School History
OUR ROOTS
The original Meyer School was built in early 1965, named for Albert and Agnes Meyer. The longtime husband and wife team served as almost the entire staff in the early days of the old Rural School. Starting in the 1920s, Albert drove the school bus and served as the school custodian. Agnes taught grades one through eight during her 38 years with Tempe Elementary Schools.
CHANGING WITH THE TIMES
Meyer School served students in kindergarten through sixth-grade until 1990 when it served students in kindergarten through fifth-grade. Due to changing enrollment, Meyer closed in 2012. But it wouldn't stay empty for long.
The campus was reimagined as Meyer Montessori, inviting students back into its beloved hallways in August of 2017.
